Jackie's French onion soup

  • 350g Spanish onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 pinch celery salt and pepper
  • 475ml beef stock (using 4 stock cubes)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcester sauce

  • Combine all ingredients except bread and cheese in a large saucepan, cover and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until onions are soft.
  • Cover sliced bread with grated cheese and grill until golden and bubbly.
  • Divide soup equally between 4 large soup bowls and top each with a slice of toasted cheese.
